This is Your Key to Consistency and Spiritual Growth
The Power of Discipline Over Motivation
A Mindset Shift on Consistency and Discipline
Hi Woman of God
I hope this letter finds you well and thriving in our Father’s love.
Recently, God has been revealing to me that He is calling His daughters to a deeper level of consistency in this season. This morning, during our community prayer call, the Holy Spirit emphasised the importance of consistency, placing it at the very heart of our prayers. I believe this is a word in due season for many of us.
As I reflected on this, I felt compelled to share a practical mindset shift about consistency that can transform our lives. As women of God, we are called to be consistent in our pursuit of Him, but let’s be honest, there are days when we simply don’t feel like doing the things that will make our lives better. Whether it’s setting aside time for Bible study, prayer, worship, or other good habits, our emotions and motivation can sometimes fail.
However, consistency isn’t about always feeling inspired or motivated. It’s about discipline. Choosing to do what’s right and necessary, even when you don’t feel like it.
The Apostle Paul understood this well when he wrote to the Corinthians, comparing the Christian life to a race that requires self-control and discipline to win the prize (1 Corinthians 9:24-27). He knew that it’s not the occasional bursts of enthusiasm that bring about lasting change, but the steady, daily choices to stay on course.
Consider the story of the persistent widow in Luke 18:1-8. Jesus told this parable to illustrate the importance of always praying and not giving up. The widow’s relentless pursuit of justice eventually led to her receiving it, not because of her emotional state but because of her unyielding persistence. In the same way, our spiritual journey requires us to keep pressing forward, even when it feels hard or inconvenient.
Galatians 6:9 encourages us with these words: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” The harvest will indeed be great if we remain disciplined and consistent, even when our motivation is low. The fruits of your labor - e.g., spiritual growth, deeper intimacy with God, a stronger sense of vision and clarity in your God-given assignments - are worth every ounce of effort you invest.
All that said, you don’t have to do it alone.
