The Proverbs Challenge Day 13 - Chapter 13
Hi, Woman of God
Welcome to Day 13 of the Challenge!Another day in God's word, I/m being blessed to hear how God is touching and convicting so many of us during this challenge. I pray that we will never be the same after this month we are spending faithfully in His word. Below are my study notes for today's chapter. There is so much wisdom in Proverbs 13 - let's dive in!
SCRIPTURE
Proverbs Chapter 13,verses 4,13-14,20 and 23 - as indicated below.
OBSERVATIONverse 4This verse reiterates yesterday's notes on laziness keeping people barren, but diligence being a key to bearing fruit and seeing success in our lives.verses 13 and 14These verses minister on this importance of reading the Word. I am deeply concerned when I hear Christians say that they don’t read the Bible. All I hear is a Christian who has decided to reject the wisdom that God has given to them freely by His word. A Christian who has chosen not to read and study the Word of God has chosen to forfeit deep intimacy with God, deep revelation about who they truly are in Christ and deep levels of wisdom to navigate this life.It is the greatest honour to hear God’s words in the pages of the Bible because we get to behold His mind. We get higher understand about the way He thinks and the way He calls us to think. As verse 14 says, His instructions are life to us in every sense of the word (physical life, spiritual life, mental life) and it protects us from falling into the ways of evil, which we have established from previous chapters.verse 20This verse speaks on how who you surround yourself with has a huge effect on who you become. Relationships with wise people will lead to your wisdom, but relationships with foolish people will lead to your destruction. verse 23This verse is so powerful in the message it carries. It reveals to me how every person, the poor included, has been given much food (or gain in this sense of the word), however, the food is not delivered on a silver platter ready to be consumed, but rather, it is in the fallow ground which requires cultivating in order to see the fruits of it. The waste comes from the untapped potential and the unused gifts of many people. God help us to cultivate the grounds!
APPLICATIONverse 4I will continue to pray for the spirit of diligence and rebuke laziness from my life. I will push myself to be disciplined by implementing habits into my life which serve this goal.verses 13 and 14I will continue to cherish the Word and spend time reading and studying it that I may enjoy the protection of wisdom in my life. verse 20I know that there are so many ways to surround myself with wise people, even if I can’t be around them physically.I will continue to walk with wise people by:1. Listening to podcast or YouTube messages by anointed men/women of God2. Interacting with like-minded creators who teach truth and encourage a lifestyle with God3. Investing in a community of sisters growing in Christ4. Reading the Bible and building my relationship with the Holy Spirit because He is the number one friend and counsellor.verse 23I have spent years seeking God about my purpose and He has given me great depths of clarity, but I will continue to do this, knowing that He is revealing more and more to me, so that when He calls me home I will be able to say that I cultivated the grounds, I used the gifts He gave me and there was no waste in my life. I will also help my sisters in Christ to discover their gifts and the fullness of their ministry so that more lives will be transformed by the power of God.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for another beautiful day in Your word. Thank You for the wisdom You have given me across so many different areas. I pray for the grace to apply all the things I have meditated on today. I lean on Your grace and strength to fulfil these things, and not my own. May You alone get the glory in my life. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray these things. Amen!
