The Proverbs Challenge Day 15 - Chapter 15

Hi, Woman of God

Welcome to Day 15 of the Challenge! How are you feeling today Sis? We are exactly half way through the challenge. Some girls have told me about the many revelations God has given them during this time as we sit in His word, which blesses me so much to hear. However, I am also being told that some of our sisters have been experiencing attacks on their walk with God during this time. Please let us keep each other in prayer. The enemy is desperately contending against the daughters of God - he is terrified at the power and unity in what we are doing this month. But God has said that there is victory in Christ and we are overcomers through Him. No matter what are facing at this time which seems bigger than we can handle, our God is ALWAYS bigger and He has already delivered us, glory be to Jesus! If you have been struggling in your spirit and you need to be uplifted by God right now, the Word for today is for you. The practical steps you need to take are in my notes below.

SCRIPTURE

Proverbs Chapter 15 verse 30:“The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, And a good report makes the bones healthy.”

OBSERVATIONHOW WHAT YOU SEE AND HEAR AFFECTS YOUR HEALTH 1) the power of what we see (the light of the eyes) and 2) the power of what we hear (a good report) BOTH have an effect on our physical bodies, to rejoice our heart and the heal our bones. The Bible is saying here that our physical and mental health is affected by what we are listening to, watching, feeding our mind through our senses.Anyone who is suffering in this area can find healing in seeing and hearing the light of God and the best report which is found in the good news of Christ. This became real to me just this evening before I opened Proverbs to study.I was feeling low in my spirit, overwhelmed by all that God is doing in me during this season. The enemy was seeking turn my eyes away from the grace I have in Christ to rather start looking and relying on my own strength. I spent an hour just worshipping; listening to my playlist of worship songs to feed my soul on the beauty of God.Right now, as I type these words, I feel so refreshed by His presence, my heart is lighter and my body feels physically stronger. EXACTLY as this verse describes.  The song in particular that I played 4 times on repeat which really healed my mind this evening was called "I bow" by Judikay. You can listen to it in my Playlist, here: https://www.youtube.com/@WomanofSubstance/playlistsAnother song that lifts me is Promises by Maverick City (also in the Playlist). If you are feeling low in your spirit, I encourage you to change what you are hearing and looking at. Whether it's turning to worship music, listening to a Christian message/preaching, praying with a friend, or reading the Bible, turn your eyes and ears back to God and see how your body responds. Don't give up after the first second, give it a minute and just sit in His presence. When you experience the shift that happens as a result, you will be amazed.HOW WE NEED TO USE THE POWER OF MEDIAAnother observation I love about this verse is how it confirms my convictions about the power of media. Media in all its forms is consumed through the eyes and ears. Its influence over our minds and therefore our lives is so powerful and we are only just beginning to understand the extent of it. The enemy is using it for evil, which we see the evidence of across our screens. Yet, God desires believers to use their creative abilities to minister light through the media. This is why I am so passionate about helping Christians to create and take up space in the creative industries. More of us need to spread light and a good report. More of us need to use the creative gifts God has given us to reach nations all over the world in a way that only online platforms and social media can facilitate at scale. I am grateful for the influence God has given me and to be able to mentor and coach the next generation of Christian creators to see the Kingdom manifest online and offline, as anointed content enters hearts and heals the bones of many.

APPLICATION

Two things from this verse:

  1. Firstly, I will continue to feed my spirit on Your truth and be mindful of the media I am consuming. When my spirit is low I will audit my thoughts to identify what evil report I have believed which has taken my eyes away from my God and I will realign my spirit with His through music, the Word and/or godly fellowship.

  2. Secondly, I will continue to use the platform God has given me to spread the good report of God's truth to all who find it, and I will continue to teach other Christian creators to do the same so that Kingdom influence will dominate our media, our screens and in turn, our generation.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, you are so good. You have provided a way for every human deficiency. You have seen Your daughters in need of fresh oil and strength in our souls and You have provided a word for us. Thank You for showing us how to turn our eyes back to You for joy, for health, for peace. I pray we continue to keep our eyes on You, that You will be glorified in our lives. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray these things, Amen.
