The Proverbs Challenge Day 22 - Chapter 22
Hi, Woman of God
Welcome to Day 22 of the Challenge! Some say it takes 21 days to form a habit. If you've made it this far in the challenge, I'm so excited to see how the habit of reading God's Word remains with us throughout the year! Even when its a shorter session you spend (like mine was today), the consistency alone is a powerful thing.I pray that God gives us the spirit of discipline and consistency in this new year, that we will continue to grow as the women God has called us to be. Below are my study notes for today; let me know what stood out to you from this chapter.
SCRIPTURE
Proverbs Chapter 22 verse 9.
OBSERVATION
verse 9"He who has a generous eye will be blessed, for he gives of his bread to the poor."Having a generous eye is having the ability to identify opportunities to give to people. In a world where everyone seems to be looking for ways to receive, take, gain and acquire as much as possible, a person who has a generous eye looking for how to give (even if small) is a rare and wonderful person. This verse is saying that this person will be blessed. I can just imagine God’s abundance of blessings running after such a person. In my business and ministry, I see this principle at work. I give a lot of value for free (through my content, letters, etc.), because I know that as I sow freely into the lives of others, I will enjoy the fruits of that labour of love. Indeed, we are blessed when we bless others. As I do this, God then brings people who are willing and able to support and invest in my business, even before I ask. He is truly a God that looks after His children, and in turn He wants His children to look after other people, according to our spiritual gifts, talents and callings. This is not to say that if you are running a business you should give everything away for free and not charge for your expertise. Absolutely not. You should be well compensated for the help that you give to people, but I always encourage the women who I coach in building their Kingdom business to create some free valuable assets and taster products which can give people value but also give them a taster of what they could get from working closer with you. One thing I love about the Bible, is how God speaks to me about every area of my life through it. From relationships, to business, to everything in between. This verse has shown me that in all these areas, practicing generosity brings a good result in our lives.
APPLICATION
I will make it a priority to pray for generous eyes. As this is pleasing to God I will seek to be a giver and to rest in the understanding that those who sow freely will reap freely.
PRAYER
I pray that God gives us generous eyes that are always looking for ways to be a blessing to those around us. I pray that we don’t fall into the temptation of waiting until we have plenty of abundance before we give, but that starting today we will give out of what we have, as God leads. Lord, open our eyes to see the opportunities around us to be a blessing to others, in Jesus name, amen.See you tomorrow for Day 23 Follow me on Instagram at @creatortochi for updates and encouragement throughout our challenge.
