The Proverbs Challenge Day 31 - Chapter 31
Hi, Woman of God
Welcome to Day 31 of the Challenge! We made it to the end! I am sooo proud of us for persisting, even through attacks and contention, we have been faithful in the Word. I pray that this continues for all of us through the year. Don't worry, we will have many more opportunities to grow together. Read until the end for an exciting letter coming on Sunday! But first, as usual, below are my study notes for today's chapter using the S.O.A.P method. Let's jump in!
SCRIPTURE
Proverbs Chapter 31 (the chapter as a whole with emphasis on the verses highlighted below).
OBSERVATIONverses 3-5"Do not give your strength to women,Nor your ways to that which destroys kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel,It is not for kings to drink wine,Nor for princes intoxicating drink;Lest they drink and forget the law,And pervert the justice of all the afflicted."This passage emphasises two things that destroy kings:women and alcohol. The Bible has been clear about the disaster that can come upon the life of a person who falls into the traps of a seductress (whether male or female), however, this passage goes into further detail about alcohol and why it is not fitting for us as God's elect. If strong drink affects my reasoning and my ability to judge rightly, then it doesn't serve me nor does it allow me to serve others well. It is not just strong drink that this applies to - it is anything that affects your sound mind, whether permanently or temporarily. The truth is there is a high that the world doesn't know. A high that far exceeds that of alcohol, drugs or any other vice that man uses to try to satisfy a void. This is the high that comes with intimacy with God and fellowship in His presence. Nothing compares to the moments where you experience God and everything else pales in comparison to Him. My prayer is that we all live in this place so often that nothing else will do. verse 8"Open your mouth for the speechless,In the cause of all who are appointed to die."This reiterates the message from previous chapters. We are called to use our mouths to advocate for those who lack the truth. God has given us His wisdom that we may hear it, learn it, and speak it.This verse helps us to understand that our speech is a matter of life and death: there are people perishing for lack of knowledge because God's mouthpieces here on this earth have kept their mouths shut concerning the truth of God and His wisdom for this life (God have mercy!) This year we are speaking with boldness and proclaiming God's truth in love. verses 10-31The Virtuous WomanI have too much to say on this passage. It wouldn't be right to breeze through the Proverbs 31 woman without careful analysis, because there is so much we can learn from these verses. I will be doing a full breakdown of this passage in our next newsletter on Sunday, and showing how we can apply the wisdom in there to our lives as women of God.The Proverbs 31 woman shows us what is possible through Christ, and the areas we can develop in ourselves. The Bible says of this woman, “many daughters have done well, but you excel them all” - in other words, she is the ULTIMATE woman - "THAT" Christian girl personified.I want to show you how studying Proverbs 31 will change your entire perspective of what it means to be a woman. I want to introduce you to the version of yourself that reflects God's glory in every area of your life. I am so excited to dive into this with you on Sunday!
APPLICATION
I will continue in the wisdom of God. The consistency I have started in January, will continue through February, March, April and onwards. By the grace of God, 2024 will be my year of going even deeper with God. I will continue to prioritise my time in the Word and surround myself with people on a similar path, with have a similar goal. I will pray often knowing that none of this is by my strength but by His grace alone. Praise God that His grace is enough!
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for this challenge. Thank You for the book of Wisdom and the opportunity to grow in Your Word. I pray that we never stop seeking You, I pray that this year will be our year of intimacy with You and revelation of Your wisdom. I commit all my sisters into Your hands, may this community of Kingdom minded women continue to grow and may each woman here fulfil her unique ministry as the woman You have called her to be. In Jesus name I pray, amen!
