The Proverbs Challenge Day 10 - Chapter 10

Hi, Woman of God

Welcome to Day 10 of the Challenge!I got my Bible time in later today and some of you ladies have already started to message me about when this one was coming :) Well we got it in just in time.I must say, today, finding time to dive into the challenge actually felt like a challenge. Yet after a hectic day, we prevailed and got time in the Word just before the end of the day. Praise God!Below are my study notes for today's chapter using the S.O.A.P method. Let's go!

SCRIPTURE

Proverbs Chapter 10 (the chapter as a whole).

OBSERVATION

Important to note is that from Chapter 10, the writing style in Proverbs changes slightly. The rest of Proverbs is now providing various wise saying of Solomon in a seemingly random way. Solomon spent the first 9 chapters of Proverbs convincing us to be hungry for wisdom, and now he is spending the remaining chapters from chapter 10 to give us as much wisdom as possible across many different topics. With that being said, there is too much wisdom in this to summarise in one sitting. However there is one key observations I made throughout this chapter that is worth exploring deeper, That is the difference between the righteous and the wicked.Th Righteous vs. The WickedWhen reading these verses they clearly contrast two types of people: the righteous and the wicked. As I read all these verses about the two types of people, the obvious question is "who qualifies as righteous, and who qualifies as wicked?"Those were certainly my questions when I first read these passages as a young believer. My first time studying these verses some years ago, I had given my life to Christ and I was being transformed by His love but I still had flaws and of course fell short of the perfect standards that He deserved from me, so I wanted to know what God saw when He looked at me - was I considered righteous in His eyes? This passage in Romans 3:21-26 answers this question leaving no doubt: "21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus."In summary, those verses explain how we have been made righteous. They explain how no one can be righteous by their own strength, so in His perfect love, God gave us His own righteousness so that those of us who believe in Him can receive His righteous THROUGH FAITH!This is the gospel. This is Christianity. We have been made right through Him.I am excited to dive deeper into this in the coming chapters, I observe this to be a recurring theme throughout the book of Proverbs.

APPLICATION

I will remind myself daily that I have been made righteous by the blood of Jesus. Whenever I feel unworthy of this great gift of righteousness, I will use it as an opportunity to praise God for His unfailing love towards me that He demonstrates every day through His grace. I will seek to please Him by allowing wisdom to teach me about righteousness that my life in the physical may reflect the righteous status of my spirit in Christ. Praise God!

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You because You have made us the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Thank You because You have transformed our identity and given us wisdom so that we can live this life in alignment with who You have made us to be by the spirit. Thank You because when You look at me You see the precious blood of Jesus that has cleansed and covered me by His perfect love. Thank You because this revelation of Your love has created the desire in me to serve You wholeheartedly and to live according to Your righteous ways through wisdom. Fan the flames of fire in my heart for You every new day that comes, that I will never glance away from Your love. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray these things, Amen.
