The Esther Challenge - Day 9

The curse is REVERSED, VICTORY has come!

Hi Woman of God

The penultimate chapter of this beautiful book ties the whole story together. The evil upon God’s people has been reversed, and there is victory against their enemies. What a powerful story of God’s faithfulness to His people, and how one ordinary woman was used in extraordinary ways.

Here are my notes from today’s chapter.

SCRIPTURE

Proverbs Chapter 9 (the chapter as a whole)

OBSERVATION

In Chapter 9, the Jews celebrate their victory over those who sought their destruction. On the 13th day of the 12th month, the Jews are granted the right to defend themselves against their enemies, resulting in a widespread victory. Their adversaries are defeated, and God’s hand is evident in the deliverance of His people. The Jews are not only able to defend themselves, but they also annihilate those who had plotted against them.

Esther, demonstrating wisdom and persistence, asks the king for an additional day of defense in Susa, which he grants. This shows her foresight in wanting to ensure that the enemy's power is fully broken. It was her strategic thinking and attention to detail that led to the complete defeat of their enemies. She didn't just stop after the initial victory; she made sure the job was fully done, making her a model of leadership and wisdom in both the public and private realms.

The Jews then celebrate their victory with the Feast of Purim, which becomes a time of thanksgiving and remembrance. Mordecai, now in a high position of authority, is honored for his role in delivering the Jews. This elevation of Mordecai demonstrates that God rewards those who stand firm in faith and wisdom. His success is not for his own glory, but to bring about God's purposes for His people.

APPLICATION

Trust in God’s Victory

  • I will trust that God can bring victory in any situation, turning even the most challenging circumstances around for my good. This powerful story reminds me that when faced with opposition, I must remain in faith, trusting that God's victory will come to pass in my life.

Persist in Prayer and Action

  • Esther’s persistence teaches me that sometimes one prayer or action isn’t enough - I must continue pressing forward until I see full breakthrough. I will keep praying and taking action, trusting God for full deliverance.

Celebrate God’s Faithfulness

  • The Jews celebrated God’s faithfulness after their victory. I will take time to celebrate God's deliverance and remember His goodness. I will thank God for His blessings and share His faithfulness with others. Like Mordecai, I will remain humble and recognise that any success is for God’s glory, not my own.

PRAYER

Father, thank You for Your faithfulness. I trust that You bring victory and breakthrough, even when it seems impossible. Help me to persist in prayer, celebrate Your goodness, and remain humble in victory. Let my life reflect Your glory. In Jesus' name, Amen!

See you tomorrow for Day 10 sister - our final day of the challenge!
