The Proverbs Challenge - Day 14
Trusting God with your Decisions
Hi Woman of God
Being honest with you sis, today I struggled to find time for my Bible study. Life got busy - between rehearsals for church tomorrow, wash day (my type 4 hair girls know the struggle) and just weekend errands in general - it was a lot. But because I have made this a priority in my day, this evening I made the time to dive into the Word. Although it wasn’t as long as my usual time, I was so glad to have sat in God’s word for the time I did today. I say this as an encouragement to anyone struggling to find the time. I know it can be hard some days. But when you make it a non-negotiable - even when you’re tired or just not in the mood - you can tell your flesh that you will choose to do the important things anyway. And it’s always amazing how once you actually start, your mood begins to change.
So sis, here is my SOAP from today’s chapter 14.
SCRIPTURE
Proverbs Chapter 14, verse 12
OBSERVATION
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”
This verse serves as a warning against relying solely on our own understanding when making decisions. While a certain path may seem right to us based on our own logic or desires, it is crucial to remember that only God's wisdom leads to life. By consistently filling ourselves with His Word, we gain the wisdom needed for the Holy Spirit to bring to our remembrance when we face decisions. The more we know God's truth, the more we are equipped to discern between paths that seem right but lead to destruction and those that truly lead to life. This verse reminds us of the importance of seeking God's guidance, as our human perspectives can be flawed.
APPLICATION
I will continue to pursue God’s ways and recognise that even when my decisions seem right to me, I need to cross-check them with His Word and seek wise counsel. I will make a habit of spending time in Scripture, knowing that the more I fill myself with God’s Word, the more wisdom I will have stored up in me for the Holy Spirit to bring to my remembrance when making decisions. By doing so, I can ensure that my choices align with God’s will, leading to life and avoiding paths that lead to death. This will require me to be intentional in pursuing God’s wisdom every day, and I will actively seek counsel when I’m unsure.
PRAYER
Father God, thank You for Your Word that guides me and keeps me on the path of life. Help me to trust in Your wisdom and not lean on my own understanding. Give me the grace to continue to store up Your wisdom in my heart so that I will have your instruction with me to lead me on the right way in all that I do, in Jesus name, amen 🩷
See you tomorrow for Day 15 sis ✨
With my love
