The Esther Challenge - Day 6

What the enemy meant for evil, God is turning around for your good!

Hi Woman of God

Happy Saturday! I hope you had some time in God’s word today. Below are my notes from chapter 6.

Let’s dive in.

SCRIPTURE

Esther Chapter 6 (the chapter as a whole)

OBSERVATION

This chapter marks a major turning point in the story. The king, unable to sleep, asks for the book of records to be read to him. He discovers that Mordecai had once saved his life but was never rewarded for it (verse 1-3). At that very moment, Haman arrives, intending to ask the king for permission to execute Mordecai. Before he can speak, the king asks Haman how to honour someone special (verse 6). Thinking the honour is for himself, Haman suggests a grand public recognition, only to be shocked when the king commands him to bestow that honour on Mordecai instead (verse 10-11). Haman is humiliated, and his downfall begins.

Key Lessons from Esther 6:

God Works Behind the Scenes (Verses 1-3)

  • The king’s sleepless night wasn’t a coincidence… it was divine intervention. And what seemed forgotten (Mordecai’s good deed) was brought to the surface and remembered at the perfect time. God’s timing is always intentional and all these events have his signature all over them.

Pride Leads to Humiliation (Verses 6-11)

  • Haman’s arrogance made him assume he was the one to be honoured, but his pride led to his humiliation. This is evidence of Proverbs 16:18 which says pride comes before the fall. Haman demonstrated pride consistently and associated with similar people (his counsellors and his wife) who encouraged him in his prideful ways. They failed to understand that true promotion is from God. Attempts to promote oneself through manipulation, deceit and actions at the expense of others will only get you so far before all the blocks come tumbling down. Clearly these manipulative tactics had worked for Haman for some time because he was appointed to senior ranks of government with his worldly tactics. However, it never lasts. The Bible stays it perfectly in Proverbs 13:11: “Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished…”!

Divine Reversal (Verse 10-11)

  • Mordecai, who was once overlooked, is now exalted, while Haman, who sought to destroy him, is humiliated. God is a master of divine reversals, turning situations around in ways we could never predict.

APPLICATION

I will seek to walk in humility and avoid pride

  • Haman’s downfall came from his arrogance. The Bible says pride comes before the fall (Provers 16:18). I will choose humility, letting God do the elevating in my life. I will check my heart often to ensure I am not seeking my promotion for selfish reasons.

I will believe that God will turn things around for me

  • Just as Mordecai’s story changed overnight, I will trust that no situation is too hard for God to reverse. Whenever I feel discouraged, I will remind myself that God is Lord of my life, and as I continue to trust Him, He will perfect all that concerns me (Psalm 138:8) and His timing is perfect.

PRAYER

Father, thank You for reminding me that You are always at work, even when I can’t see it. Help me to trust Your timing and remain in faith. Keep my heart humble and let me never seek honour for myself, but instead wait on You to lift me in due time. I believe that You are a God of divine reversals, and I trust You to turn every difficult situation around for my good. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

See you tomorrow for Day 7 sis

With my love
