The Proverbs Challenge - Day 11

How to Become a Woman of Wise Counsel

Hi Woman of God

We’re on day 11 of the challenge! How have you been finding it so far?

It is wonderful to receive your messages about how it has already been so impactful to your life. Thank you also for the encouragement - whilst I truly love sharing these emails with you, it is motivating to hear that they are also deeply appreciated by my sisters.

I have received questions on how I study the Bible and I would also like to let you all know that I am currently preparing a course that will show you the behind the scenes of my entire Bible Study process and how you can study God’s Word not just for information but for deep revelation and transformation in every area of your life.

The course will also include the key concepts every woman of God must understand when studying the Bible, such as righteousness (which we touched on yesterday), identity, the Word of God as a seed and so much more. God laid this course on my heart to create as a resource for the women who are committed to making 2025 their year of spiritual and supernatural transformation in God’s Word. This will be one of the best resources I have ever created, and I am so excited for it to bless you. Look out for this, I’ll be sharing more on it soon!

Now, for today’s chapter.

SCRIPTURE

Proverbs Chapter 11 (the chapter as a whole, with a focus on verse 14)

OBSERVATION

Proverbs 11 continues the theme of contrasting the righteous and the wicked, showing how their choices lead to very different outcomes in life. The chapter is full of practical wisdom, and several key themes stand out.

  1. The Blessings of Righteousness: Walking in righteousness brings guidance, deliverance, and flourishing (v3, v4, v30).

  2. The Consequences of Wickedness: Walking in wickedness leads to downfall, disaster, and ultimately loss (v5, v7, v19).

  3. The Value of Inner Character: Verse 22 highlights that physical beauty in a woman without wisdom and discretion is as misplaced as a gold ring in a pig’s snout, emphasising the importance of inner character over outward appearance.

  4. The Rewards of Generosity: Verses 24–25 highlight the principle that giving freely brings greater blessings, while withholding leads to lack.

  5. The Importance of Counsel: Verse 14 emphasises the safety found in seeking wise counsel and the dangers of relying solely on one’s own understanding.

Focusing specifically on verse 14, this principle has been ingrained in my thinking because it’s so often quoted, and for good reason. It highlights the protection of seeking wisdom from others, especially when making decisions. God has designed us for fellowship, not isolation. Life was never meant to be navigated alone.

This verse reassures us that the more we seek godly wisdom, the safer we are from falling into error. Praise God for surrounding us with tools and people to guide us on His path.

APPLICATION

This chapter challenges me to:

  1. Seek wisdom daily through Scripture and prayer.

  2. Live with integrity, generosity, and righteousness.

  3. Build relationships with godly people, recognising that wise counsel is a gift from God.

Additionally, I will actively pursue wise counsel by:

  • Dedicating time to Bible study as we are currently doing, understanding that God’s Word is my ultimate source of wisdom.

  • Reading books that align with my vision and ministry, expanding my perspective.

  • Listening to trusted preaching and teaching online.

  • Approaching spiritual leaders for guidance when faced with challenges.

  • Sharing and discussing decisions with my community of God-fearing friends, valuing their input.

I will also continue to honour my role in helping other women in their walk with God, understanding the value of this for all of us, and I will continue building our women’s community so that relationships can be established and we can support, advise, and protect one another from the ways of the world.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom found in Your Word. Thank You for the reminder that I don’t have to go through life alone, but that You’ve provided wise counsel to guide and protect me. Help me to be intentional in seeking wisdom daily, through Your Word and through the people You’ve placed in my life. Strengthen my relationships with godly friends and leaders, so that we can support and advise each other in ways that bring You glory. In Jesus' mighty name, Amen.🩷

See you tomorrow for Day 12 sister

With my love
