The Proverbs Challenge - Day 3

The link between our actions and the results we experience

Hi Woman of God

We're back with Day 3 of our Proverbs Challenge! I got my study time in today in the evening - later than my usual morning study, and boy was it a meaty one!

Let’s dive straight in!

SCRIPTURE

Proverbs Chapter 3 (the chapter as a whole with emphasis on verses 5-10)

OBSERVATION

This chapter, like the previous two, reinforces the value of wisdom and continues to set the stage for the wisdom that is to come in the chapters ahead. It emphasises that wisdom is not merely intellectual but deeply practical and it actually links our actions to the outcomes or results they produce.

3 examples of this that I observe are:

  • Trusting God (our action) brings clarity and direction (the result) (v5-6): When we place our confidence in God and lean on His wisdom instead of our understanding, we receive clear guidance for the path ahead.

  • Fearing the Lord (our action) leads to physical well-being (the result) (v7-8): Turning away from evil and pursuing God’s ways results in tangible benefits, including health and strength.

  • Giving generously (our action) produces an overflow of provision (the result) (v9-10): Honouring God with our resources activates a spiritual principle of abundance, where our generosity is met with divine replenishment.

I observe that these are spiritual principles, much like the natural law of sowing and reaping. Just as a seed planted in the ground bears fruit in time, these principles yield real results for those who choose to apply them faithfully. They highlight the interconnectedness of our faith, actions, and the blessings that follow.

How exciting to know that if we don’t like the results we are seeing in our lives, we can ask for wisdom to learn how to apply spiritual principles according to God’s Word!

APPLICATION

As I reflect on this chapter, I am reminded of the power of aligning my actions with God’s principles:

  1. Trust Over Worry: I will continue to practice trusting in God fully. Even when it’s hard I will remind myself daily that His Word is true above all else. I recognise that clarity comes when I take each step as He directs me to.

  2. Pursue Godliness: I will actively shun evil and seek God’s ways, knowing that doing so brings both spiritual and physical well-being.

  3. Be Generous: I will honour God with my resources, trusting that He will meet my needs abundantly as I give to others and to His work.

I am encouraged to approach each day with a heart open to God’s wisdom and the assurance that His principles are reliable and true.

PRAYER

Father God, thank You for the gift of Your wisdom and the spiritual principles that guide my life. Teach me to trust You completely, to walk in Your ways, and to honor You with all I have. Give me the grace to discern and turn from evil, to pursue righteousness, and to have the courage to give freely with the assurance that You will provide. Lord, may my life reflect Your glory and Your abundant grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

See you tomorrow for Day 4 my sister (it’s getting so good!)

With my love
