The Proverbs Challenge - Day 23

The Bible quiz earlier today was amazing. It was so nice to see some of you, and to start the Christmas week with a bang!

We are approaching the final days of the challenge, so let's end it well!

Now for today’s SOAP.

SCRIPTURE

Proverbs Chapter 23, verse 26.

OBSERVATION

"My son, give me your heart, and let your eyes observe my ways."

This verse carries an endearing tone. The phrase "give me your heart" reflects God the Father’s desire for an intimate, authentic relationship with us. The heart, being the seat of our desires, emotions, and will, shapes the entire direction of our lives. Every person gives their heart to something, whether it’s relationships, career, material pursuits, or just distractions. Yet, the very thing we often give away to others is what God longs to have most from us.

When God has our heart, we are drawn into deeper intimacy with Him. This closeness transforms us and brings out the most Christlike version of ourselves, aligned with His character and will.

The second part of the verse, "let your eyes observe my ways," calls us to pay attention to God’s example, revealed in Scripture and the life of Jesus. Observing His ways and studying the Word as we are doing, helps us live lives that reflect His love and righteousness.

This verse reminds me that surrendering my heart is not just about obedience but about relationship. When we trust God with our hearts, He shapes them in ways that lead to purpose, peace, and transformation.

APPLICATION

• I will reflect on where I’ve been giving my heart - have I been surrendering it fully to God, or have I been distracted by other things?

• I will make a conscious effort to seek intimacy with God through prayer, worship, and studying His Word, knowing this closeness is what transforms my life.

• I will meditate on God’s ways and seek daily to align my actions with His example, letting His character guide my decisions and desires.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for desiring my heart and inviting me into a relationship with You. Today, I surrender my heart to You completely. Help me to turn away from any distraction and continue to give You my full attention. Teach me to observe Your ways and grow in intimacy with You, so that my life reflects Your love and righteousness. Shape me into the person You have called me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
