The Proverbs Challenge - Day 15

This is impacting your physical and mental health...

Hi Woman of God

Happy Sunday! We’re half way through the final month of the year and I am still expectant that many of us will experience breakthroughs even in the final few days of this year. 2024 is not over, and God is never late. I am ready for all that He has for me as we close up this year. What about you?

Let’s dive in to today’s SOAP.

SCRIPTURE

Proverbs Chapter 15, verse 30

OBSERVATION

“The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, And a good report makes the bones healthy.”

This verse always jumps out to me because of the way it emphasises the connection between our senses - what we see and hear - and our physical and emotional health.

  1. The Power of What We See: The "light of the eyes" can uplift the heart, meaning that what we look upon can bring us joy and encouragement.

  2. The Power of What We Hear: A "good report" (positive and godly messages) brings healing and restoration, even to our physical bodies.

The Bible is teaching us that what we allow into our hearts and minds through our eyes and ears directly affects our health - spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Anyone struggling in this area can find healing by turning to God’s light and His good news, found in Scripture, worship, teaching, and fellowship.

This verse also affirms my conviction about the impact of media. Media, consumed through the eyes and ears, has the power to shape minds, hearts, and lives. The enemy often uses it for destruction, as seen in so much harmful content today. However, God calls believers to use their creativity to share His light and good news.

This is why I’m passionate about empowering Christians to take up space in creative industries. More of us need to use our God-given gifts to create content, media and messages that spread light and deliver the wisdom that God has given to each of us according to our callings. I’m grateful for the influence God has given me and for the opportunity to coach and mentor other Christian creators to reach people across the world.

APPLICATION

Two key applications from this verse:

  1. Guarding What I See and Hear:
I will be intentional about feeding my spirit with God’s truth and filtering the media I consume. When my spirit feels heavy or low, I will examine what negative or ungodly reports I have allowed into my thoughts. I will realign myself with God’s truth by turning on worship, meditating on Scripture, or fellowshipping with other believers.

  2. Spreading the Good Report:
I will continue to use the platform God has entrusted to me to share His truth and good news with others. I will also remain committed to mentoring other faith-led creators, equipping them to use their gifts to glorify God and bring Kingdom influence to our generation through media.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, You are so gracious and faithful. Thank You for teaching us how to find joy, health, and peace through keeping our eyes fixed on You and listening to Your truth. Help me to be intentional about guarding what I see and hear, and to seek You when I feel weary or overwhelmed. I also pray for wisdom and strength as I use my platform to share Your light and teach others to do the same. May we see a generation transformed through Your good report. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

See you tomorrow for Day 16 sister
