The Proverbs Challenge - Day 12
The Habits of a Person Living Righteously
Hi Woman of God
We’re nearly halfway through the Challenge, and it’s amazing how much wisdom we’ve already uncovered in Proverbs. Each chapter brings fresh insight and encouragement. Let’s dive into today’s Word - here are my study notes for Proverbs 12 using the S.O.A.P method!
SCRIPTURE
Proverbs 12 (the chapter as a whole, with particular reference to verses listed below).
OBSERVATION
Proverbs 12 continues the themes of wisdom and folly, and contrasts the traits and outcomes of the righteous and the wicked. Some key takeaways from this chapter include:
Loving Instruction: Verse 1 highlights the importance of embracing correction and instruction as essential for growth and understanding. Rejecting correction shows a lack of wisdom.
The Stability of Righteousness: Righteousness creates a firm foundation for life (v3, v7), while wickedness leads to instability and eventual ruin.
The Power of Words: Verses 6, 14, and 18 emphasise the impact of our words. Wise and thoughtful speech can bring healing and encouragement, while reckless words can harm and destroy.
Diligence vs. Laziness: Verses 11 and 24 praise hard work and diligence, which lead to provision and advancement, while laziness results in frustration and lack.
Kindness to Animals: Verse 10 teaches that a righteous person shows care even for animals, reflecting the value of compassion in all aspects of life.
This chapter challenges us to pursue righteousness, wisdom, and diligence while using our words and actions to reflect God’s character.
APPLICATION
To apply the wisdom of Proverbs 12 to my life, I will:
Embrace correction and instruction: I will actively seek out learning opportunities, whether through studying the Bible, receiving guidance from trusted mentors, or reflecting on constructive feedback in order to grow in wisdom.
Cultivate righteousness and stability: I will seek to make decisions that are rooted in integrity, and align my actions with God’s Word to ensure my life reflects His values and purpose.
Use words wisely: I will be intentional about how I speak: this means avoiding reckless speech that could harm others and ensuring my words are uplifting, truthful and healing where they can be.
Be diligent and hardworking: I will work faithfully in all areas of my life, knowing that diligence honours God and brings about growth, progress and good fruit.
PRAYER
Abba Father, thank You for the wisdom and guidance in Proverbs 12. Help me to love correction and instruction, knowing they lead to growth and maturity. Teach me to live a righteous life that honours You, bringing stability and integrity to all I do. Guard my words so they bring healing and encouragement to others. Give me the diligence to work faithfully and the compassion to care for others, reflecting Your love in every area of my life. Guide me in Your ways, Lord, and let my life be a testimony to Your wisdom and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
See you tomorrow for Day 13 sis ✨
With my love
