The Esther Challenge - Day 5
The power of strategy and patience...
Hi Woman of God
Another late evening, but such wisdom this chapter had. Esther displayed a level of understanding and prowess in navigating the situation in this chapter which could have only been by the leading of God. She understood the importance of timing and leverage BEFORE making a request.
Let’s dive into the SOAP notes from today!
SCRIPTURE
Proverbs Chapter 5 (the chapter as a whole)
OBSERVATION
In this chapter, Esther takes a bold step by approaching the king uninvited, an action that could have led to her death. However, she finds favour in his sight, and he extends his golden scepter to her (verse 2), signaling her safety. Instead of immediately presenting her request, Esther wisely invites the king and Haman to a banquet (verse 4), showing patience and strategy. At the banquet, she extends another invitation for the next day, building anticipation and ensuring she has the king’s full attention.
Meanwhile, Haman is filled with pride over being invited to Esther’s banquet, but his joy is overshadowed by his hatred for Mordecai, who still refuses to bow to him (verse 9). Haman's wife and friends advise him to build a gallows and request the king’s permission to hang Mordecai the next morning (verse 14), revealing how dangerous and corrupt counsel can be.
Key Lessons from Esther 5:
Favour Follows Courage and Obedience (Verse 2)
Esther risked everything by stepping into the king’s presence uninvited, but God granted her favour. Breakthroughs happen when we step out in faith, despite fear.
The Power of Strategy and Patience (Verses 4-8)
Instead of making an emotional plea, Esther strategically invites the king and Haman to two banquets, gaining trust and control of the situation. Wisdom often requires patience. Timing matters when making important requests or decisions.
The Danger of Pride and Evil Counsel (Verses 9-14)
Haman’s arrogance blinds him, and his hatred for Mordecai fuels his downfall. His friends and wife encourage him to act wickedly, showing how surrounding yourself with the wrong voices can lead to destruction. Who we take advice from matters; bad counsel can push us toward disastrous decisions.
APPLICATION
I Will Step Out in Faith, Even When It Feels Risky
Like Esther, I will not let fear keep me from stepping into the places where God is calling me. Over the next week, I will take one bold step toward something I’ve been hesitating on, trusting God for favour and courage.
I Will Be Patient and Strategic in My Decisions
Esther didn’t rush her request but prepared wisely. I will learn to pause, pray, and plan before making important moves. Before making a major request or decision, I will take time to think, pray, and ensure I approach it with wisdom and the right timing.
I Will Surround Myself with Wise and Godly Counsel
Haman’s downfall was influenced by the wrong voices. I will be intentional about seeking wisdom from those who align with God’s truth. This week, I will reflect on the voices influencing my decisions and make sure I am listening to wise, godly counsel.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You for the wisdom in Esther 5. Help me to step out in faith, knowing that Your favour goes before me. Give me patience and wisdom to handle situations with strategy, not impulse. Surround me with godly counsel, and remove any voices that lead me away from Your purposes. Let my decisions be guided by Your Spirit, and may I always trust in Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name, Amen! 🩷
See you tomorrow for Day 6 sis ✨
