Those with you are more than those against you

As we enter the weekend, I want to share one of my favourite stories in the Bible that builds faith in me every time I read it. Today’s mindset shift is found within it’s lines. from Scripture that has deeply encouraged me, and I believe it will be a blessing to you as well. It's about the transformative mindset of recognising that we are never alone.

Just like Elisha's servant, when our spiritual eyes are opened to see that God is with us and that heavenly armies surround us at every side, fear loses its grip and we stand firm against the enemy’s deception.

The Story of Elisha’s Servant

2 Kings 6:15-17 reads:

“when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

In this powerful story we read about the servant of the prophet Elisha and how he was overwhelmed by fear. The Aramean army had surrounded their city, and it seemed like all hope was lost. But Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” And when the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, he saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. This revelation transformed his fear into boldness.

Even without seeing it in the physical, Elisha believed the mindset that I am encouraging each of us to believe also, which is that those who are with us are greater than those who are against us.

Most of us are like Elisha’s servant, completely unaware of the power and protection of God that surrounds us on every side. Imagine how different your life would be and how courageous you would be if you actually believed this truth!

This is the mindset shift that I invite you to meditate on deeply and allow the Lord to cause you to believe wholeheartedly.

The Shift in Mindset

From: Feeling isolated, overwhelmed and outnumbered by our circumstances. To: Knowing that God is always with us and that His heavenly armies are on our side.

When we make this shift, we realise that we are never alone in our battles. God’s presence is a constant source of strength and protection, and we can face any challenge with confidence.

Some More Supporting Scriptures

• Psalm 34:7: "The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them."

• Romans 8:31: "If God is for us, who can be against us?"

• Isaiah 41:10: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

• Hebrews 13:5: "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
  

This mindset not only brings peace but also empowers us to face life’s challenges with courage and faith. Fear loses its power and the enemy’s attempts to deceive us into fear are thwarted.

As we go into the weekend, let's remember this truth and carry it in our hearts that we will live by faith and not by sight.
